Our work for Atomic Kitten
Atomic Kitten
We designed, created and maintained three sites for Atomic Kitten (1999,
2001,2003), winning a prestigious award for our work. The site is driven by a
content management system so that Virgin Music staff can keep fans up to date
on the latest developments.
Although we no longer maintain the Atomic Kitten site here are a few highlights
of the work which we created for them which not only won us an Online
Music Award, but was widely praised by the directors of the EMI group
for helping Atomic Kitten to achieve massive worldwide success.
Our online marketing tricks and techniques helped turn the Kittens from potential failures to global success! By utilizing our expertise in understanding groups of site visitors we predicted that visitors wanted the song "Whole Again" to be released. The record company were skeptical but released the track when they saw our data. Whole Again went to number one in over 20 countries and was top ten in many more, it was the biggest selling single for the EMI group in 2002.
Atomic Kitten Site: 2001 - 2003
The most recent Atomic Kitten site enabled
users to chose a variety of 'skins'
visually re-styling our websites is a great way to enhance
the experience and prolong a sites life. New skins are a cost effective
way of delivering what seems to be a whole new site, while making sure
the content remains untouched.
As
you can see, the site looks very different - yet all of these skins were
driven from the same content
management system - making it easy for the Atomic Kitten team to add
new music, images and videos without worrying about costly updating fees.
The CMS powered site also delivered news to fans around the world with specially tailored skins, while giving limited editing powers to the regional management helped make sure the content could be both multilingual and geographically relevant.
We provided numerous
marketing and community building strategies for Atomic Kitten, from managing
their huge database of signed-up site members to developing cross media
promotions such as TV and radio competition tie-ins. By bringing sponsors
to the website we helped the Kittens site pay for itself.
Atomic Kitten Site: 1999 - 2001
Kitten
Island,
a site where visitors could roam in 3d around the Kittens world, examining
items and playing music and videos from the simple interface.
We designed
this site with the Kitten audience of the time very much in mind - after
extensive research we determined the average visitor was primarilly 9
to 15 year old girls and they viewed the Kittens as the cool best friends.
So what would their fans want to do but hang around in their house?
The site won awards around the world and was widely copied as it saw the Kittens web visits soar from 10,000 per month when we took over the site to 3 million per month when this particular site was redesigned.
In January 2004 our most Atomic Kitten recent site saw the most visitors of any site in the EMI group, totaling over 32 million hits per month!
