Accessibility
Making your site available to all
If your site offers goods, services or other facilities, then it must immediately be accessible to the disabled under the Disability Discrimination Act. The Disability Rights Commission (which polices compliance with the law) says it is "committed to enforcing these obligations". Also, if your site publishes information which could be considered educational, then you are also bound by the requirements of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act. Next year the EU is due to issue a Directive to all member states requiring laws similar to these already in place in the UK and the US which is separately policed under section 508.
Around one in five in most developed countries suffers from some sort of disability. In the UK , this equates to around 8.5 million people. So to make your site accessible will not only protect you from the courts, it will also dramatically increase your market reach overnight. With such a staggering business opportunity on the table, it is a wonder so few sites are accessible.
Our work conforms to the accessibility standards set by the the W3C and the UK, US and EU legislation
